Can I download an SVG barcode for free?
BarcodeMate provides free SVG, PNG and GIF barcode downloads without an account or watermark. Enter your content, check the preview and choose a download format. Barcode generation and file creation happen in your browser.
How to download an SVG
- Open the generator for the required format, such as Code 128.
- Enter the content you want to encode. Follow the format-specific input hint and resolve any validation error.
- For an internal Code 128 example, try
MATE-2026-001. This is sample inventory text, not an assigned retail product number. - Select SVG under Download format, then choose Download SVG.
- Open the file in software that supports SVG, or place it in your label layout.
SVG, PNG or GIF?
| Format | When to choose it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| SVG | Your layout software accepts vector artwork | Preserve proportions and the surrounding white space |
| PNG | Your workflow needs a raster image | Choose enough resolution and avoid stretching or smoothing the bars |
| GIF | Your workflow specifically accepts or requires GIF | Check the exported image at the intended output size |
The PNG/GIF resolution control changes raster download resolution. SVG artwork can scale, but the final printed barcode must still have suitable physical dimensions for its format and use.
Does the preview guarantee that my printed label will scan?
No. Keep the white space around the symbol, preserve its proportions and test a label at the actual size on your intended printer, material and scanner. The bar-height control affects image proportions; set the final physical print size in your layout or print software.
Generating an image does not issue or register a retail product number. Use the number assigned to your product and follow the receiving retailer's requirements. See the format guide for input requirements.
