Barcode content stays in your browser

Barcode generation happens on your device. The generator does not send your entered content, saved names or generated images to our server. Downloads are created locally.

Barcode image identification

By default: Images you select, drop or paste are decoded on your device. Neither the image, its filename nor decoded content is uploaded or saved in your barcode history. Use “Clear image & results” to remove them from the page. The reader is downloaded from our own website when needed.

Optional troubleshooting images

If you explicitly choose to send a troubleshooting image, only the previewed area is uploaded to our server. Check it for private information before confirming. We remove file metadata and do not send the original filename or decoded text. Administrators can view the image to investigate identification problems. Images are not published or used to train models. They are unavailable after 30 days and expired files are cleaned hourly while the service runs. This optional submission is separate from usage statistics and is never automatic. If you add an email address, it is stored alongside the image, used only to reply to you about this report, and removed together with the image after 30 days.

Saved barcodes

When you save or download a barcode, its content and settings are stored in this browser’s local storage. There is no fixed item limit; capacity depends on the storage available in your browser. When storage is full, we show a warning rather than automatically deleting older items. They are not synchronized to an account or another device. You can delete individual entries under “My barcodes,” or remove all of them by clearing this site’s browser data. Private browsing may discard them when your session ends.

Website requests

Your browser still requests pages, scripts, styles and fonts from the website. Hosting infrastructure may log standard request information such as IP address, requested page, time and browser information. Barcode content is not placed in page URLs. We use no advertising scripts or third-party font requests.

Visits and feature usage

Like our other websites, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics on public pages to understand aggregate visits, page popularity, referring sites, approximate country, device and browser categories, and page performance. Cloudflare processes these requests without analytics cookies or advertising identifiers. See its privacy policy.

We also count successful editing, PNG/SVG/GIF download starts, explicit saves, reuse, format selection and image identification. Successful identification counts once per detected format per scan; scans with no decoded result count under “unknown”. Only the action and barcode type are sent to our own server; they are immediately combined into daily totals kept without automatic age-based deletion. We do not attach barcode content, saved names, images, identifiers or browsing histories to these counters. The counter endpoint has access logging disabled. Visit and feature statistics are skipped when your browser signals Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Generating, saving and downloading still work if statistics are blocked.

Desktop app usage counts

The desktop app counts nothing until you allow it. It asks once when first started, and the answer is no by default. When counting is on, each record is an event name and one value from a fixed list: the app started, with its version number; which feature was used, for generating, importing, printing or exporting; the barcode format chosen; and whether one of those steps failed. Barcode content, saved names, file paths, imported rows, error messages, identifiers and timing are never sent, because the record has no field that could carry them. Every record the app has sent is also kept on your computer and can be read in the app under “About”, where you can clear it or switch counting off at any time. Nothing is queued or retried when a send fails. Counts reach the same endpoint as website statistics, with access logging disabled, and are combined into daily totals.

Desktop app update check

Once a day, the desktop app asks this website which version is current, and shows a line when a newer one exists. The request carries no identifier, no account and no version number of its own: the comparison happens on your computer, so the answer is the same for everyone and we cannot tell who asked. Access logging is disabled for that address, as it is for the counters. Nothing is downloaded or installed automatically; the link opens the download page in your browser. You can switch the check off under “About”, and then the app makes no request at all.

Update feedback

Voting sends the update date, your choice and a separate random receipt for that update. Your browser keeps the receipt; our server stores its hash so you can change or remove your vote. Clearing browser data loses this receipt. Totals are retained. No per-update views are tracked.

Feedback

When you submit feedback, we store your text, chosen visibility, optional nickname, contact email and image, plus language, source and submitted app version. Public feedback appears immediately; email is always private. Images are re-encoded to remove metadata. Feedback is kept until you withdraw it or the administrator removes it. A withdrawal key is saved on your device; only its hash is stored on the server. Request information is used temporarily to limit abuse. Feedback does not automatically upload your projects or collect app-use telemetry. No image count limit. PNG, JPEG or WebP; up to 50 MB each, 80 MB total. The server compresses images and creates thumbnails; original uploads are not retained.
